The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
