Approximately twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the state, generating strong winds topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to address the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled 598 calls for help across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the state.
