Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned practices and terrifying transformations echo through the shadows." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine cult.
The mission concentrates on "strange trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
